Alcohol use in the lifetime, past year,
and past month was generally more prevalent among males than females, except
among the adolescent age group (i.e., those aged 12 to 17) (see Tables
7.1 to 7.3). Among adolescents, females reported slightly higher rates
of lifetime and past year alcohol use than males, although the differences
were not statistically significant. There were no significant differences
among adolescents by gender in rates of past month use.
