1 Facilities operated by Federal agencies are included in the States in which the facilities are located.
2 Of the 3,524 facilities reporting that residential (non-hospital) services were offered, 174 facilities (5 percent) whose client counts were reported by another facility were not asked to respond to this question. Of the remaining 3,350 facilities,113 facilities (3 percent) reported for themselves and other facilities. However, the utilization rate and designated beds per facility are based on the 3,058 facilities that reported both designated beds and clients. Of the 3,237 facilities that reported designated beds, 59 facilities (2 percent) were excluded from the utilization rate tabulations because they did not respond to this question, and 120 facilities (4 percent) were excluded because the number of designated beds was reported as zero.
3 Of the 740 facilities reporting that hospital inpatient services were offered, 15 facilities (2 percent) whose client counts were reported by another facility were not asked to respond to this question, and 17 facilities (2 percent) reported for themselves and other facilities. The utilization rate and designated beds per facility are based on 476 facilities (11,637 designated beds and 11,161 clients) that reported both designated beds and clients for their facility only. Of the 708 facilities that reported designated beds, 57 facilities (8 percent) were excluded from the utilization rate tabulations because they did not respond to this question, and 175 facilities (25 percent) were excluded because the number of designated beds was reported as zero.
4 Because substance abuse treatment clients may also occupy non-designated beds, utilization rates may be more than 100 percent.
