Screening tools help clinicians begin their assessment of client with an effective, protocol driven instrument. Many different screening tools are available for working with individuals with co-occurring disorders. Some are more sensitive to detecting disorders than others. Some are generic and screen for a range of disorders, while some are specific and screen for a specific disorder. Used as part of a broader assessment, screening tools give clinicians a common language and metrics. By helping identify disorders, screening tools can help patients receive effective treatment.
